OUR TOWN
The town of Greenlawn is a quaint bedroom" community of approximately 12,000 people. The church is located across the street from the small shopping center in town. The majority of the town consists of private homes on quiet shaded streets. The town is approximately 45 miles east of New York City on Long Island's beautiful North Shore and 80 miles from Montauk Point at the east end.
Greenlawn enjoys the best of both worlds. While it is a small community, it is part of Huntington Township with 200,000 residents, which provides the major retail stores, theaters, etc. of a large cosmopolitan area. Residents have access to many beaches on Long Island Sound and are only one-half hour from the well-known South Shore ocean beaches.
Greenlawn is approximately 70 minutes by train to New York City, and a significant number of its residents commute there daily. Local industries include many electronic firms and service companies. Public schools are well rated. Adelphi, Hofstra and the State University of New York at Stony Brook are among the many colleges and universities on Long Island.
Other nearby churches include Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox. There is a significant population of Jewish residents who attend synagogues in the neighboring towns.
